The Padi Rescue Course. minimum age 12 years old.

In most sports the more you play or get involved the more experienced you become and sooner or later you will probably see an accident. As a diver and especially if you dive regularly there is a chance you will see problems occur but don't really know what to do about them. After an accident most people will think "I wish there was something i could have done to help or prevent the accident".
This is where the Padi Rescue course comes in. The PADI Rescue course is the eye opener to scuba diving, the first thing you learn is that if you plan your dives properly not too many problems occur, especially major problems.
The Rescue course will show you how to really look after yourself and others. You learn to anticipate problems and stop them before they snowball and that starts with yourself rescue, like how you are feeling about the dives you are going to do and also with the buddys you're diving with.
A good Rescue diver will always look at these important factors before planning their individual dives, the enviroment, the weather, the boat they are using, personal and staff, resources, ropes, life rings, medic kit, so they can anticipate and solve most problems before they happen and if they occur they are ready for it.
Sometimes in diving you could come up against the unforseen and there is a problem, as a Rescue diver you will be able to assess and react to the problem. On the course you will learn different methods of how to help tired divers, panicked diver, unconscious divers and have sessions and scenarios on dive rescue management from start to finish.

A lot of divers over the years have asked me "when should i do the Rescue course" the answer is? if you are a PADI Adventure Diver or PADI Advanced diver and you're feeling confident with your diving and want to learn more then you are ready. Another question is "am i either too old or not strong enough" on the Padi Rescue course you do have to be semi-fit but the majority of the exercises are brain verses brawn, which is fun to see because with rescues the key is to be flexible with your ideas.
On the course you will be supplied with your own personal Padi Rescue diver manual. In the manual that is actually interesting, you have five 15 question knowledge reviews to complete before certification. Your instructor will go over these knowledge reveiws with you and any questions you have in knowledge sessions.
On the course, the next 2 days are spent at Pattaya's coral islands, even though we are on a course we will still have time to do some fun diving on the reefs.
Accidents on dive trips can only happen in 3 places, on the surface, underwater or on the boat.

On the course you will complete 10 objectives and then 2 scenarios and here they are:
Ojectives:
1. The Tired diver tow: different tows and when to do them.
2. Panicked Diver: looking at size of victim and different methods.
3. Response from shore or boat: throwing lines, entering the water, equipment considerations.
4. Distressed diver underwater: how to look after over-exerted divers and out of air drills.
5. Missing diver: learning different search patterns and how to locate the missing diver.
6. Surfacing the unresponsive diver: different ways you can help a diver to the surface.
7. Unresponsive diver at the surface: Rescue breathing, mouth to mouth and mouth to pocket mask.
8. Exiting with the unresponsive diver: helping divers on the boat or shore.
9. First Aid for divers: oxygen administration and 1st Aid procedures.
10. Response from shore or boat to unresponsive diver: prepares you for your scenarios.
Scenarios:
1. Unresponsive diver underwater: with your Rescue team you will, assign tasks and then search for a missing diver, on locating the diver bring them to the surface.
2. Unresponsive diver underwater: giving rescue breaths to an unconsious diver on the surface, egressing with the diver, give first aid to the diver.

Nearly every single PADI Professional looks back at their rescue diver course fondly because it was a serious but a fun course, as i said it's an eye opener to scuba diving and a very rewarding course.
